George 'Keoki' Stender

I earned a NAUI Scuba Diver certification in 1984 as a senior at Kamehameha Schools and started diving as a contractor with the Naval Ocean Systems Center in 1987.  Shortly thereafter I entered the recreational diving industry as a sales person at Windward Dive Center where I later became a PADI Instructor and took over as the primary equipment service technician, servicing up to 6 regulators per day for most major brands.

Other related employment includes manager of Midway Sport Diving at Midway Atoll NWR, marine educator/dive officer/boat & recompression chamber operator with Rapture Marine Expeditions, survey dives in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, and manager of Island Divers Hawaii.  I currently work full-time as a Diving Safety Specialist for the University of Hawaii's Diving Safety Program.

Manufacturer-sponsored certification for scuba repair includes regular updates.  Other certifications include AP Diving Inspiration rebreather diver, PSI Cylinder Inspector, Recompression Chamber Operator, Dept. of Interior Motorboat Operator.

I am also a professional underwater photographer/educator/creator of the popular website www.marinelifephotography.com.  I teach classes on underwater photography and marine life identification for various groups.
